BRIEF REPORT :ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: 27-Feb-2010.Good afternoon and Welcome
As Executive Committee members , we took over in October 2007. We have had numerous meetings and it would not be feasible now to go into the details , but we are content to say that it has been an honour to serve by sacrificing our time and our energy. We have also had a few General Body meetings. Since we took over as Office bearers , we have had 2 General Body Meetings in January and February 2009. We have had 2 Annual General Meetings, and today is the 3rd such meeting.
During our tenure as Office bearers, we have developed a close relationship and close ties with our respected Mother Provinvcial , Mother Superior , the Sisters in Loreto Convent , the Principal , the teachers , staff and fellow Loreto girls. This was especially seen during the planning , preparation , and celebration of the Centenary Celebrations and 400 years of Mary Ward. The bonds that were established can never be broken because we all belong to the Loreto family. It is an established fact that the Centenary Celebrations went down exceedingly well in the history of Loreto Convent, Shillong and that each one played an undeniable contributory part in its success.
As Committee Members , we had discussed various issues at our meetings , and we had organized a few activities. One such activity was a concert organized by Mrs. Pauline Warjri and her ‘Aroha’ team, the proceeds of which were donated to the school.
(Thank you very much , Mrs. Pauline Warjri. May God continue to bless you and the work of your hands.)
Our term comes to an end today with the election of new members , the details of which will be discussed by Mrs.. Clarissa Sawian , the General Secretary . At this point, however , we would like to stress on the importance of not resting on our laurels because of the success that we have encountered along the way. What is more crucial is the fact that although we started out with almost nothing , we have achieved something , but there is more to be done. Our prayer and our desire is to see the post –Centenary projects being formulated and carried out , as we pass our mantle and our cloak on to the new office bearers. We will be with you every step of the way, as far as possible, as we live out our motto : “ Mission with a Vision “ , because “ Yesterday we dreamt, today we have become, and tomorrow we will also be.”
Good afternoon, God Bless and thank you.
Jennie E. Nampui
President, LAAS (2007—2009)
